What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function properly and provide information to website owners.
How We Use Cookies & Local Storage
The Skill Shift uses minimal cookies and local storage for the following purposes:
Essential (Required)
- Authentication tokens β To keep registered users logged in securely and manage subscriptions
- Anonymous visitor ID β A randomly generated identifier stored in local storage to track page views without identifying you personally
- Email confirmation tokens β Temporary tokens used to verify email addresses during newsletter, digest, and report subscription
Functional
- Theme preferences β To remember your display settings
What We Don't Use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies
- No third-party tracking cookies
- No social media tracking pixels
- No cross-site tracking of any kind
Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View and delete existing cookies
- Block all or certain cookies
- Set preferences for specific websites
Note: Blocking essential cookies may affect the website's functionality.
For European Users (GDPR / ePrivacy)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland:
- Essential cookies are used under our legitimate interest to provide a functioning website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). No consent is required for these.
- Non-essential cookies β We currently do not use any non-essential, advertising, or analytics cookies that require consent under the ePrivacy Directive.
- The anonymous visitor ID stored in local storage is not linked to any personal data and does not track users across websites, therefore it does not constitute a cookie requiring consent under EU guidelines.
You have the right to withdraw consent for any non-essential cookies at any time. Since we only use essential storage, no consent mechanism is currently required.
