Why it works

Accessibility failures carry legal exposure that owners cannot assess themselves, and automated scanners catch perhaps a third of the issues - the judgement about whether alt text is meaningful stays human.

How it makes money

One-off project

How to start

  1. Learn WCAG 2.2 AA - the level most procurement contracts and public-sector tenders actually name.
  2. Pick a sector whose sites you can read fast: independent retail, clinics, local government suppliers.
  3. Run Lighthouse and axe over ten sites in that sector and record what fails.
  4. Separate the automated failures from the ones only a human finds - alt text that is present but useless, focus order, colour meaning.
  5. Build a report template that gives each issue a WCAG reference, a severity and the code fix.
  6. Use Claude to draft the plain-English explanation of each issue for a non-technical owner.
  7. Check every AI-written finding against the standard yourself; a wrong WCAG citation ends the engagement.
  8. Audit two sites free and send the reports unprompted to the owners.
  9. Price the audit as a fixed fee and the remediation separately - they are different skills and different budgets.
  10. Offer a re-test after fixes, which is where the repeat revenue is.
  11. Add a quarterly monitoring retainer for sites that publish new content weekly.
