Overview
AI makes generating dozens of hook and headline variants nearly free, which is exactly what high-volume ad testing needs — but strategy (which angles are even worth testing) and measurement (what the actual test data means) stay human-led, since volume without a testing discipline just produces noise. Sold per-batch or on retainer to ecommerce, SaaS and agency clients running enough ad spend that testing at scale pays for itself.

How it makes money
Per deliverable + retainer
How to start
- Learn direct-response copywriting fundamentals — what makes a hook, headline or CTA convert versus fall flat.
- Pick one niche (ecommerce, SaaS or agencies) so your swipe file and pitch stay specific.
- Analyze 20+ live ads in that niche and log which hooks and angles keep reappearing.
- Draft 5 sample hooks using ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini as a starting point, then rewrite by hand.
- Build one polished before/after sample showing a weak ad next to your rewritten version.
- Contact 20-30 advertisers or agencies directly with that sample attached.
- Sell a fixed-price test batch (e.g. 10 variants) rather than an open-ended retainer to start.
- Generate 10-15 copy variants per ad using AI, varying hook, angle and length.
- Review every claim against what the client can actually substantiate before anything goes live.
- Run the variants as a real test (A/B or multivariate) inside the client's ad account.
- Report which variants won and why, with the actual CTR/CPA numbers, not just opinions.
- Convert winners into an ongoing per-campaign retainer once the first test proves out.
